Come Study With Me! AI in the Music Classroom

I am thrilled to announce that I will be teaching a course online this June about a topic that I have been studying for the past 18 months titled AI in the Music Classroom on behalf of the MusicFirst Summer Teacher Academy. This course is intended for any K-12 music educator who has an interest in the impact that AI and related technologies will have on the music industry, and music education. There will be five “live” class sessions using Zoom – each approximately two hours in length. Registration will be open for the duration of the course and all classes will be recorded to allow for asynchronous participation. 

This course can be taken synchronously OR asynchronously.

Class Dates and Times

Recurring Mondays - June 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and July 1st 

7:00pm - 9:00pm Eastern  

Topics covered will include:

•    What is AI? History of Artificial Intelligence
•    In Depth Look at Generative Pre-Trained Transformers (ChatGPT, Bing, Gemini, Jasper, etc.)
•    AI Tools for Composing Music
•    AI Tools for Music Listening
•    AI Tools for Music Learning
•    AI Tools for Assessment
•    AI Tools for Creating Instructional Materials
•    Ethics, Equity & Copyright Issues
•    Classroom Applications for AI

Additional Details

All students will receive access to the full range of MusicFirst software titles for 6 months, as well as access to class recordings, MusicFirst content, and Resources.  All students will be required to complete several assignments, including discussion questions, quizzes, and a lesson plan that integrates AI technology.  

All students will receive a certificate for 10 hours of Professional Development upon the successful completion of the course.
