MusicFirst welcomes MusicProfessor

Coming this Fall, the MusicFirst Classroom will include ALL of the amazing Level One videos from MusicProfessor.com at no additional charge. MusicProfessor is an online library that contains hundreds of short videos that provide lessons so that students learn how to play an instrument at home at your own pace on any device. The videos are excellent and professionally produced, and I personally believe that it is a perfect resource for any band or orchestra director who may not have the time to provide individualized instruction to EVERY student.

There are video lessons for 18 different instruments in Level One of MusicProfessor - everything from flute to violin to guitar to drum set. There is also a wonderful set of music fundamental videos to help bolster students individual musicianship skills. In addition to the hundreds of videos, there is also a set of wonderful Master Classes offered by top musicians.

The MusicFirst Classroom will be adding ALL of the Level One MusicProfessor videos this summer - right in time for the start of the school year. They will be located in the MusicFirst Content Library and can be assigned to any student in any ensemble.

So you may be asking yourself - so how do these videos compare to YouTube videos? Great question! I LOVE YouTube videos for learning how to fix things and play certain pieces of music - but there isn’t anything like MusicProfessor on YouTube. The videos from MusicProfessor are curated - meaning that it is a collection of consistent, pedagogically appropriate, and beautifully paced instruction. There is a HUGE value in that. Finding quality videos of instrument instruction videos takes a TON of your time. The MusicProfessor videos all follow a similar curriculum - showing students everything from how to set up and care for their instrument all the way to more advanced techniques - like double stops and double tounguing.

MusicProfessor also offers a standalone version which includes ALL 3 levels of videos for each instrument. MusicFirst will be making all of those videos available within the MusicFirst Classroom for an additional charge.
