Tool - Factile

Many teachers I know have used the very popular format of a Jeopardy board to do quiz & test reviews with their students over the years. They have been very creative in how they build these games - almost always using PowerPoint or Keynote. While it certainly can work that way, it is very time consuming to create and animate. Trust me - I spent HOURS doing just that when I was teaching.

Meet Factile - a fantastic FREE website that allows you to build your own Jeopardy-style quizzes for use with your students. I’ve been recommending this site for years, but they recently added some VERY cool features that bring all of the best things from sites like Kahoot so that students can buzz in and answer from their on devices! They’ve also added Choice, Quiz Bowl and Memory modes. Choice mode is perfect for review, showing a question and multiple choice responses. Quiz Bowl is like a game show with buzzer mode and teams. Teams buzz in before the other team to answer the question. Memory mode is like the classic memory card game where you match the question and answer tiles.

One of the coolest things about the site is that you can search for other user generated games, specifically on music. Just type in Music in the search bar and you’ll find TONS of results.

There are paid plans that add some pretty cool features - including buzzer mode. A school account costs $48/year. I highly recommend grabbing a free account and trying it out with your students today. If you’ve ever spent as much time as I have creating your own Jeopardy board from scratch, you’ll know how amazing this tool is!
