You Asked. We Listened. MusicFirst Classroom Now Works Seamlessly with Your School's LMS

One of the things I enjoy most about my role at MusicFirst is talking with music educators. Whether it is at a conference, during a webinar, or while visiting schools, I always come away with ideas for how we can make our products better. Some of our best new features have come directly from conversations with teachers and district technology leaders. For the past few years, one request has come up again and again. Teachers told us they love MusicFirst Classroom because it was built specifically for music education. It brings together high quality curriculum, method books, assessments, and the industry's leading music education software in one place. From PracticeFirst and Sight Reading Factory to Auralia, Musition, DAWs, Moises, and our ever growing MusicFirst Content Library, everything teachers need is available in a single platform.

At the same time, schools have increasingly adopted learning management systems like Canvas, Schoology, Moodle, Blackboard, Teams, and others to manage teaching and learning across every subject. Teachers wanted to continue using their district's LMS while taking advantage of everything the MusicFirst Classroom has to offer. District technology teams wanted a solution that was secure, easy to deploy, and simple to support. I am excited to announce that we have launched full LTI 1.3 integration with the leading learning management systems. This is much more than a new feature. It is a major step toward making the MusicFirst Classroom fit naturally into the technology environment your school already uses every day.

One of the first things teachers will notice is automatic rostering. Once your LMS is connected, classes and students are synchronized automatically using secure, industry standard authentication. There is no need to manually create classes or upload spreadsheets. Your rosters stay current as students enroll, transfer, or change schedules. Creating assignments is just as easy. Teachers can link directly from their LMS into the MusicFirst Classroom and assign exactly the activities they want students to complete. Whether it is a PracticeFirst exercise, a Sight Reading Factory assessment, an Auralia or Musition quiz, or one of the hundreds of lessons and courses available in the MusicFirst Content Library, everything can be assigned without leaving your LMS. Students simply click the assignment they see in Canvas, Schoology, Moodle, or another supported platform and begin working immediately. To be clear, if you are a long time MusicFirst Classroom user, this integration with your school’s LMS will be a VERY different way of using our platform. All of the usual aspects of creating an assignment will utilize those tools in your school’s LMS rather than ours. But don’t worry - you’ll still get access to everything that you love about the MusicFirst Classroom. Ultimately, this is all about eliminating any technical hurdles that have stood in the way of using our platform at your school.

Perhaps one of the biggest time savers is automatic grade synchronization. When students complete an assignment, their grades are sent directly back to the LMS gradebook. There are no manual imports, no duplicate grade books, and no extra steps. The entire process happens automatically, giving teachers more time to focus on instruction instead of administrative tasks.

This release reflects something that has always been central to how we develop MusicFirst Classroom. We listen. We listen to music educators who use our platform every day. We listen to district technology teams responsible for implementing and supporting educational software. Their feedback shapes our development roadmap and helps us prioritize the features that will make the biggest difference in classrooms. We are also continuing to expand our integrations across other platforms. This summer will bring enhanced Google Classroom integration along with support for Microsoft Teams and Azure environments, giving schools even more flexibility regardless of the systems they have chosen - all in time for the new school year.
